Diasporas Now presents “Parallel Refraction,” a film screening evening of works by Sian Fan, Peter Spanjer, and Paola Estrella, as the next instalment of the Performance Lates series at Reference Point, 180 The Strand. 

The artists featured in “Parallel Refraction” approach moving image as a means of opening portals to alternative identities across a spectrum of practices – with Sian Fan’s interactive world-building embodied through cyborgian avatars, Peter Spanjer’s reflections on sensuality and vulnerability as poetic forms of resistance, and Paola Estrella’s fantastical perspectives of magical realism piercing through socio-political structures. In the light of cinema, where one body ends, another reality begins.
